Eurovision 2026 Audience Figures Decline

(MENAFN) The 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest drew a television audience of 131 million people across 35 territories, reflecting a decrease of 35 million viewers compared with the previous year's competition, according to statistics published on Friday by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

Hosted in Vienna, the renowned music event reached 131 million viewers worldwide. This represented a notable drop from the 166 million viewers recorded during the 2025 contest, which was staged in Basel, Switzerland.

Audience numbers rose in Austria, the host nation, where the competition achieved its largest viewership on record. However, several countries experienced reduced audiences, including Poland, the United Kingdom, and France.

Online interaction continued its upward trajectory, as Eurovision-related material amassed more than 2.75 billion views across various social media networks throughout the 2026 season.

The competition was held following the withdrawal of Spain, Slovenia, Ireland, Iceland, and the Netherlands, all of which exited the event in opposition to Israel's participation.

The 2026 contest was ultimately claimed by Bulgaria's DARA with the song "Bangaranga."
